Every team tool gives you channels. GenXSync also knows what a course, a term, a department and a retention policy are — as things the platform understands, not integrations you wire together later.
The same group also has a channel, direct messages and shared files. The difference is that the term, the roster and the deadline are real to the platform.
The difference
Chat tools model conversations. Institutions are made of other things too — a cohort, a reporting line, a marking scheme, a record you are obliged to keep. Those usually end up in a spreadsheet beside the chat. Here they are part of it.
What that buys you
A student joins a course and is in its channel. A department gets a manager and its own spaces. Someone leaves and the audit trail still answers what happened. There is no second system to keep in step, because there is no second system.

Every sign-in is recorded. Users can see their active devices and revoke them.

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Sessions are JWT-based with configurable expiry. Retention runs report counts before anything is removed, and refuse to act on a group under hold.
